WORKSHOP HELD- 2) Storytelling- Its importance as an art of communication in today's world

Workshop- Storytelling- Its importance as an art of communication in today's world (June- 2012) (for parents and kids)

My attempts at storytelling started about ten years ago at home- scribbling down short stories on my notebook. Then came the computer- finally it took shape with the publication of my first book (English, short story, fiction) at the Kolkata International Book Fair, 2007 by Kolkata-based publishing house- Nandimukh Samsad.

Within a couple of months followed a favourable review in The Statesman- praising the maiden effort-

THE STORYTELLING WORKSHOPS OF MELTING POT

With a focus on communication (interpersonal and intrapersonal)- the storytelling workshops of Melting Pot always attempts to encourage communication/dialogue flow between parents and kids and the parents and their own 'worlds'.

The workshops uses minimum of props since the maximum emphasis is on communication and it uses folklore/oral traditions as a tool to teach communication.

Below are seen some of the tools used in the workshops for storytelling.

Like the other workshops- this too includes a booklet prepared by me especially keeping the mixed-target audience in mind- parents and kids- who attends the workshops.

There is an emphasis on folklore in the booklets.

    1. Thanks. Do post anything you want about culture, traditions or folk culture. You can also suggest any ideas for future workshops on these topics.
